I started to create VTS_xx_x.vob's from TV recordings using VideoReDo as
dvd streams and was wondering how I would build a dvd compliant struture
without going thru all the reprocessing (3 to 4 hrs) using nero. I need
to create the video_ts.bup, .ifo, .vob, etc. for roughly 4 or 5 vob
streams. Is there a program that can do this for the novice? I can't seem
to grasp ifoedit and ifovob. My vob's play fine on nero showtime.

Not sure whether that VideoReDo produces DVD-compliant VOB files, but if it does then the fastest way to generate IFO files is through the great and powerful IfoEdit. It's not really hard at all:
1. Rename one of the VOB files to VTS_01_1.VOB and put it into an empty folder;
2. Open IfoEdit, click the button Create IFOs at the bottom;
3. Select your VOB file in the box 1st VOB of Titleset;
4. Check the box Same As Source; leave other options as is. Click OK.
If it works, you'll get a complete DVD structure created for you. Test it with PowerDVD or other software player that can play IFO files from the hard drive. You can go even further and rename your other VOB files as VTS_01_2.VOB, VTS_01_3.VOB, etc., add them to the same folder and make one DVD out of them following the procedure above.
If it doesn't work then you'll have to author a DVD but it shouldn't take more than an half an hour per disc; it'll take longer only if the files aren't DVD-compliant, otherwise you're going a wrong way about it spending 3hrs with Nero. I suggest trying TMPGEnc DVD Author for simple authoring. It accepts multiple VOB files as input and can add chapters, cut out commercials and create simple menus. In case something's wrong with the files, it usually produces an understandable error message.

Thanks Dimmer
Ifoedit could not find any vob unit in vob file(s) - so apparently videoredo vob files must not be compliant or whatever.
I fooled around with TMPGEnc DVD Author and it did what I am looking for and built the dvd in about 15 minutes and had no problems with the videoredo files like ifoedit
