2 eng subs, both wrong.... (zatoichi)

hello,
i am trying to convert the japanese movie "zatoichi" and last night i ran the preview on the two english subtitle choices... they both previewed the same way, with big yellow subtitles for all of the lines and occationally, the subtitle would be repeated in smaller white subs (both would be on the screen at the same time). there were two choices for english subs, but each preview showed the same results. now i'm trying another japanese movie, there are two english choices for that one too. we'll see what happens with the preview...

any ideas what this is about?

ok, the second movie (which came from the same publisher) doesn't show the two sets of subtitles EXCEPT when there's a sound. when the subs say (engine roars) it shows up in both the little white and the big yellow subs, but all the dialogue is just in the yellow ones.

- nothing is wrong and movie will turn up ok. It's just internal and external subs are being displayed at the same time.

do you know if there's any way to turn the small white ones off so only the yellow ones (which show everything) will stay in the encoded movie?
and would the yellow ones be the internal or external subs?

You'll only get the one set of subs in the final AVI. That's the point that Sibi was making. You only get the double subs during the Preview. As for turning off the white ones, check the player. There should be a way to turn off subs while playing. I'm pretty sure the yellow subs will be the ones kept.
