View Full Version : Capturing from VCR with Nebula DigiTV, what's it like?

I have to convert a lot of VHS tapes into video and wanted to change my WinTV card with BT878 and get something markedly better. I wanted to get the Nebula DigiTV but the main drawback with this is that you have to use Nebula's own software for analogue captures - no Virtual Dub! :scared:. Now I'm not too sure how good/bad this software is but I've been using VDub for years and would rather not change unless I have to.
Is there another card as good as the Nebula that will work with VDub?

AFAIK you can't use VirtualDub with any DVB card as you get the transmitted stream as it is.

BT878's aren't bad cards if you use Dscaler instead of the vfw and wdm drivers.

You're right but I felt like a change :). Any Nebula TV owners out there? What's the analogue capture s/w like?

If Nebula is a DVB card, you don't capture analog video with it but digital only.
The software does its job if if gets you the stream as it was broadcast to your place.

This is the part of the email I got from the people who make the cardIf you want to hook up your analogue video from your VCR, you'll have to hook it up to your DigiTV PCI card and use DigiTV's own software for analogue capture.
My understanding it that the PCI version has an analogue input. I just wanted to know from people who may have used it what's it like with the software etc?

Thanks for that screen shot Ac3Dc3 it gives me a little idea of what Nebula's own software does. I have changed the subject title accordingly as for several reasons I prefer to get the Nebula-TV but it has to capture from VCR at least as good as BT878 or preferably better.
