Optimum overclock settings for encoding?

I know I've read a thread on this subject previously but am unable to locate it. What I would like to understand is what is more important to garner the highest encoding speeds? Bumping which parameters are most likely to garner the greatest improvements in speed? CPU clock speed, Memory frequency, or a combination of both?

I've been running an OC'd A64 3000+ Venice at a modest 2250MHz using 250HTT and my PC3200 set at 160MHz/2.2.2.8.

run it at something stable at oh say.. 80C(or w/e it is under full load, hopefully under85C) for about 8 hours, if it can do that then I say go for it, but you hafta make sure that you can run it without errors at that speed/temp, and the colder the better

Actually, after looking at what I had written for specs I began wondering why I had my mem frequency set so low. Just bumped the clock up and am now running 204MHz instead of 160, no mods to CAS, RAS, or TRAS. Memtest is still pumping away. ;-)

As to heat... never a problem and always under 62c during any extended stress test. This is with the stock heatsink modified only to mount a low-speed 90mm fan ducted to fresh air outside the case. This quiet-PC setup works even with ambient room temps in the upper 80's to low 90's! Average encoding temp is 54c.

Btw, found an interesting article over at NEOSEEKER (http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardware/Guides/athlon64oc/) that helps a bit with my inital query.

I keep my P4 3.2C at 3.8 easily. With the proper cooling, the max possible OC can help your encoding speed, unless a bottleneck is reached.

the venice chips run really cool. my CPU fan doesn't even turn on at all during the winter (it's set to turn on at 45c) which is good if you like quiet running. i'm running a 3500 venice, clocked at 2200Mhz (i forget what ram speed is on - i think it's set to 100, but i'm sure it can take more).
