Hi. I am trying to rip some DVDs using the Big 3. I set up DIF4U and it works well until it invokes Scenarist. Scenarist promptly freezes after that no matter which DVD I try to rip.

I am trying to rip all VTSs by VobID. I am doing this because I got this (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=101111) error while trying to rip by PGC. The thing is this is an 'Extras only' DVD and I want to everything on the DVD except the FBI warnings. Is ripping by VobID the right thing to do? Please help. Thanks.

Dif4u doesn't invoke scenarist, so I assume you mean scenaid?

I also had the problem of Scenarist freezing after updating my ide drivers. Seems That scenarist and the Nforce drivers do not get along.

@ rohangc

please do not start a new thread for every question you have, particularly when they relate to an already active thread.

demux by vobid is only ever needed for titles with ILVU, multi-angle, and the occasionally messed up 'duplicate pgc' vtses where demuxing by pgc will not give you all the audio streams, or lead to an inefficient use of assets. please note that DIF4U will correctly switch to vobid demux for multi-angle, however you will have to manually alter the settings for the other cases.

if in doubt, post the relevant section of your .ifo and we can advise.

please follow up influenza's advice on the ide drivers as it is a very common cause. another possibility is many substreams which can take a long time to import and give the impression that scenarist has frozen.

I am sorry for creating duplicate threads. Will never do it again.

I have not installed IDE drivers. I don't think I have a motherboard with the NForce chipset. That may not be the problem. I will try again and wait for it to complete. I think I will leave it overnight. I will ask again if there are any problems. Thanks for everything.

The freezing I mean happens when importing a script. Scenarist seems to b frozen quite often as pointed out by Jel. usually it will come alive after a while. Muxman is much and much faster when importing and muxing so I hardly ever use senarist anymore. Only for scenario's that muxman can't handle. And fortunately that doesn't happen too much ;)
