Hello, first i would like to thank everyone involved on the development of Auto GK, it is really a wonderful tool...many thanks.

On to other subjects, i just read that the newest and final version of Auto GK
(2.20) comes as Adware...?

Is that a stable version or a beta?

I was wondering if there was a non-adware version to download?
And if not, is it safe to use...?

Could you post a link?

Please forgive me if someone else has posted this kind of question but i couldn't find anything at all about this subject.

With all kindness and patience i wait for your answer.

Again, many thanks and hopefully AutoGK will still live on.

This thread should give you all the information you need. Search for "dae" if you want more information.

Thanks for the link Axed, it was very helpful.

After reviewing the opinions of many users it makes it more clear of what the new Auto GK can do.

It can be a double edge sword so to speak, it can give you the best but it can also give something bad in exchange.

Lenox is really a great guy and i'm sure that whatever his reason was to add the dae.dll to the program was justified in a way, i mean, the guy just wants to continue doing what he does best: Programming.

On the other hand, people like myself and many others who use this program due to the fact that we are not really that skilled when it comes to encoding could have second doubts about using it again if it comes with such dangerous files.

I mean, if it can track your surfing habits, what else can it do?!

Auto GK was made for people like me who know little or nothing about DivX or
XviD, and the motto of Lenox is ( and i hope it still is ), to help people like myself and many others to enjoy encoding movies, but by putting such things to the program itself, he is giving it a slap on the face.

I think it goes totally out of way for what he stand for in the beggining, which was : Help noobs, so i hope the man goes back to his roots and decides to release non-adware versions of his program.

He already carved a triumphant path amongst the encoding community and he is quite known for his great working spirit, always delivering new versions of Auto GK in the shortest time possible, because he loves to do that.

So please Lenox, do what you do best: Giving great programs to the world in the truest and honest way possible.

Thanks again for everything.

lol, it's not like the adware is hidden or malicious if it's documented. Besides, since when is all adware dangerous? Just stay off porn sites.

Yet another thread on adware in AutoGK? Unbelievable!

@Burning Fury, You might be glad to know that len0x has stopped developing AutoGK altogether so that all our precious PCs can be saved from the malicious software which his tool installs without asking us. After all, he forces us at gun-point to install and use AutoGK, right? So no one donates to len0x voluntarily to help the development, so WHAT? We don't care if he needs to eat and pay his rent, just keep the updates coming, once every week! Let's torture the bloke and keep getting those beta versions eh. I am with ya man, go for it!

The adware is no longer there from ages...

Thanks to all of you for the reply....
@ Unskinnyboy and Sharktooth: Those are great avatars, LOL.

You all have very strong points. (^_^)/

It is a shame though that Lenox is not developing Auto GK anymore, there goes another great program just like DVDDecrypter... :(

In short, i'm glad that the Adware can be removed, so it is no harm to get the newest version i suppose.

I'll go ahead an get the new Auto GK, thanks.

Hopefully we will see a new generation of AutoGK in the future.

Cheers.

Seems you are still confused.

The latest release (2.20) of Auto GK DOES NOT contain adware
and Sharktooth indicates some of the prior betas didn't either (I personally don't know when it was removed, and don't care - as it's a moot point)

DAE was removed from AutoGK starting v1.96 stable and v2.08 beta.
