Hi:
I am looking for some guidance in ripping a dvd (The Matrix) so that I can dnld it to a memory stick to play on a clie (ux-50). My understanding is that the Clie can play mpeg4 format movies or sonys movie player format. I dont' know how to use auto GK to end up with a mpeg file. I have searched the web but, the articles refer to using 3-4 different tools - most of which have been updated and no way resemble the settings/usage described in the articles (2003). My understanding right now is that I can use DVDdecrypter to rip to a .vob, use DGIndex to get a .avi file, then pipe that to 3gp converter to get out a usable mpeg. I can't figure out how to tell DGIndex to output a .avi file (it does output a d2v file but I don't know what this is or how to use it.
I have read the help on a number of tools: AGK, 3GP, Ahead, AVISynth, TMPGENC but am super frustrated because they seem to automatically assume that you know the file formats that can come in, and what file format will result. They go through great lengths telling you what the setting are but *not* what the settings DO, and how they affect the output.
Anyway, some pointers would be really appreciated.
Thanks
John

I forgot to mention, if there is an easier/more direct way to get the resultant .mpeg file than going through the string of three or more alphabet soup of programs, please tell me. I have found the commercial pkgs that do this and I am not interested in them. Thanks again
