Sometimes I receive DLTs from which I have to take off videos or other stuff in order to modify them for a new author.
I am able to get the image on the hard disk, but the only way I have found to obtain the original video_ts folder is to burn a DVD-R. When I get a double layer DLT I am obliged to burn a double layer DVD-R. Does anyone knows a way to write the original video_ts folder on hard disk from DLTs?
Thank you to you all.

You can use Gear Pro Mastering Edition to get the video_ts stuff from a dlt. Costs about $700 but has a 60 day free but fully functional trial.

I tried gear mastering, but it gives the dat files, and I don't know how to turn back to the video_ts folder from here.
Thank you for the posting.

@andgio
Hi!
I'm fairly certain that the ".DAT" files created by GEAR Mastering are disc image files. If so, you should be able to extract their contents using a tool such as ISOBuster, DaemonTools, or similar...

You can backup DLT to hdd with Spruce's Premaster Tool or Maestro.

What Gear themselves reccommend is that you use Gear to burn the DAT to a disc and then copy the VIDEO_TS folder it creates on burning back to you Hard Drive.
I know, I know :)

These Gear's guys very lazy. Just read their message board and questions about layer break. Almost two years they sell GearME without ability to choose layer break, calculated by Gear itself without third party software.

I have tried with programs like isobuster etc... but .dat files are not readeble images files. I can burn a double layer disk with decrypter, but I am not able to get the video_ts files directly on my hard disc. This sounds me strange, isnt it?
Thank you all for the interest on matter.

If you have it, you can use Interra to restore a project to a video_ts folder. If not, why not look at DVDAfterEdit. This can again give you the video_ts folder you need.

Hi dgoodbourn,
thank you for the reply. I took a look to DVDAfterEdit and it seems to to the job. Unfortunately the only release able to do it, is the professional one and my society has not it. Thank you again

Hi you all,
I reread your kind answers: Maestro and Gear both give an image file and not the original video_ts files; Daemon, isobuster and similar are not able to andle such a dat file. Decrypter is able to burn a DVD and couriously media player is able to play the dat file as a long video, menus and titles the one after the other.
I really wonder if anyone found a way to obtain the original files from dat.
Thank you again

Decrypter is able to burn a DVD
Exactly how did you accomplish this?

simply loading the .dat file in decrypter. You can set windows to let dat files (or .img files, if you get this kind of files when you extract data from DLT) handled by decrypter (type of file in the tools of my computer window) and decrypter will do the job. Any way decrypter, mode, ISO write, choose source, choose destination, burn.

Unless I'm mistaken, DVD Decrypter only recognizes the following image-related formats_ BIN, GI, MDS, CDI, IMG, NRG, CDR, ISO, PDI, DVD, LST, UDI.
I'm guessing that your .DAT files are actually .IMG files, which you certainly should be able to mount to a virtual drive created with DaemonTools and then extract and save the files to your hard drive...

Hi back again after testing,
setarip_old is right, I can read .img files coming out from DLTs with any program holding DVD images (Daemon Tools, Isobuster...), but this can be done only when DLT are not encrypted ones. When they are encrypted the image cannot be loaded anymore, but decrypter still asks if you want to pass from 2054 bytes sector size to 2048 and gives you a good DVD-r. Sometimes I dont know why I get images .dat out from DLT but decrypter is still able to handle them.
Thanks again
