Lately I observed a fact that when I run VDub+AVIsynth, the available physical memory (in KB) keeps going down slowly from 500000 at the beginning to like 20000 after a while, however, the memory usage for VirtualDub.exe is somewhere around 100000KB. I got these numbers in TaskMgr on Win2k.

When the available physical memory reaches as low as 20000, the machine gets very slow and it takes like 10 sec to switch application. Is this normal?

What versions of each tool? Note you can set the amount of memory VDub uses in the Performance menu,

Here are a list of tools and versions I can think of:

VDub: 1.6.10 build 23648
AVIsynth: 2.5
TomsMoComp.dll: 0.0.1.7
DVinfo.dll: updated version on 2005-08-11 23:24
Divx Pro 5.0.2 Codec

I didn't touch the settings in Performance menu.

DVInfo is not wide usable tools. Try disable it.
Other are standard and wide tested tools.
But what is avisynth 2.5 ? 2.5.5 ?

I got this problem when i got not enough RAM. I have now 1GB RAM and set in the Scripts "SetMemoryMax" to 470MB. After this there are no problems.

I think, that with with not enough RAM there are too many page-faults, so that Windows have load from the HD too much.
Do you noticed the CPU-Usage and Memory-Usage in such situations, when you start a job and then switch to a program (which take you some seconds)?

I use DVInfo to put a time stamp on each frame. Any better way to do that?

The CPU usage is about the same, and I haven't noticed the memory usage when I switch to another program.
