Hi everyone.
I was wondering if anyone could direct me to a GOOD guide on the net, on how to burn an .avi movie which needs an .srt file for subtitles (it's an Asian film). How can I burn this to DVD so that I can watch it on my DVD player and also view the subtitles?
If anyone knows of any such Tutorial, or can teach me themselves, please reply.
Thank you!

It's all here; use search and read the guides on the main doom9.org page.

Maybe I didn't look hard enough... but I couldn't find anything that dealt with external subtitles...
Sorry, could you please give me a specific guide?
I feel really dumb...

There are a number of one/few click avi->DVD apps that support srt, including:
-DVD2SVCD (in AVI2DVD mode)
-DIKO
-My solution http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=100230 (which I prefer even if no one else does :p)

OK. I've run into a problem.
I used Matthew's advice and used AVI2DVD to create a dvd from my avi file and srt file.
Now, I press "GO!" and yeah... The normal procedure for AVI2DVD.
It goes past the BeSweet stage...
Then:
AVISYNTH ERROR!
Avisynth open failure:
AVISource: Couldn't locate a decompressor for fourcc xvid
(D:\Angelo'sBackup\dvds\Avi2dvd_temp\Avisynth_Script_File.avs, line 2)
What's happening here?
Pls I really need some help.
Thanks in advance.

Just consult this guide:
How to add srt and sub files to dvd on mac (http://www.dvdburnermacosx.com/tutorial/how-to-burn-srt-sub-subtitle-to-dvd-on-mac.html#129)
It supports us a freeware ffMpegX.
Hope to help U

Strange problem indeed. :D. Some people swear on quality of DivX, and you can use less space too :p, while others convert them back to DVD.
Leaving out the joke, there are hundreds of applications that convert your divx movies into DVD, well, just type AVI and DVD in google.com. What I've found to be the problematic issue is how to keep the sound synchron to the movie, since most DivX-creators don't give a damn about this in their quest for space and one-click applications.
About subtitles, there are very few cheap applications that support subtitles, most of them are either really expensive or freeware. :p
The best thing you may do is to demux the whole thing in separate streams, reencode them accordingly (they should match, if not use SSRC on the wave), reauthor the DVD in IFOedit if you don't care about a chapter menu (I don't), then do not forget to check the subtitles with DVDSubEdit (http://www.videohelp.com/tools/DVDSubEdit) to change their nasty green color into normal ones.
How to demux, how to encode, how to reauthor and how to change subtitles - search the forum or the net. Plenty of guides.
