View Full Version : Scenarist multi angle problem

I have tried to do a multi angle dvd but scenarist says:
Start PTS of ILVUs in each angle are deferent. The encoding paremeters should be same between angles.
The source of video is DV camera and it was converted to DVD by TmpgEnc. I used restream to make video start at time 0.0.0
Can somebody help solve this problem ?

Each angle must have closed gops of identical structure (number and type of pictures) for seamless angles.

Well, but it must also have the same length.
I tried to shorten second sequense so the both end with I-Frame but scenarist says:
Video for angle is too short to fill scene instead.
the real lengths are:
00:02:50,400 (4260) Ends by I-Frame
00:02:50,120 (4253) Ends by I-Frame
or they have same length but one ends by I-Frame and another by P-Frame.
Can you recommend a cutting tool to achieve both conditions ? (same length and whole GOP)

First, restrict auto I-frame insertion in your encoding program (scene detection or something similar), this should solve your problems with one ending to I and other to P-frame.
Also Scenarist has a strange behaviour when angles end with I-frames, the extra angles always switch back to angle 1 for the last I-frame, which is not a real problem if you have a fully multiangle title but really annoying if you wrok with mixed angles (in that case simply cut the last frame before encoding).

Thanks I switched of auto inserting I-P-B and the error disappeared.
One more trouble is a bitrate. I thought that I can have 8000 per angle is that correct also for scenarist?
Do I get it correct that this is per an angle or is there another restriction for the total bitrate of all angles in PGC ?
Thanks

bilbob is corect that the bitrate must be reduced to 8000 for multi-angle. This is the total of all streams per angle.

Yes, I am sure. And the 8000 is only for 9 angles, it is less severe for fewer.
myth: The max bitrate is only for rendered streams - FALSE it is for all streams in one angle
Also, each angle contains its own copy of the audio and subpictures. This allows for the other tricks, like non-seamless angles (which can have different audio and subs) and seamless multi-story.
The pickup processor is responsible for skipping the other angles and pumping only the selected angle into the buffers.

DVDDemystified
Maximum Data Rate for Each Angle
2 to 5 - 7.8 Mbps
6 to 8 - 7.3 Mbps
9 - 6.8 Mbps

OK thanks guys I'll try it. It is just a test.
I have noticed that even professional video seldom has multi angles.
The reason for that is obvious now. The quality of video is going rapidly down with more angles involved.
I previously thought that I can have up to 9 angles in one PGC 8000 each.
Thanks once more
