really need help on cropping pls

im capturing from capture card and i need 2 crop the side sizes because its greenish. can someone give me a hint or a programm pls

What do you intend to do with the captured files? There are many ways to crop, depending on how you plan to use them.

Virtualdub using the null transform filter is what I use for an avi video. It allows you to preview the cropped video as you add the amount you want to crop

Since you have not provided any information about the capture tools you are using, the format you are capturing into, or the eventual format you wish to retain ... its very hard for us to help you any further than tigerman8u did. Tigerman's assumption is that you *might* be capturing into AVI -- if you're capturing in MPEG, his advice won't help.

If you've not yet seen it, I recommend taking a look at our Capture Guide (http://www.doom9.org/capture/start.html). It shows several procedures for cropping AVI in Chapter 7.

If you want more than general recommendations for "typical" procedures, you're going to have to get specific about 1) what you're doing, and 2) what you want to accomplish.

:thanks: to all of you im using tv card WDM video capture, analog capturing and im saving in avi. my problem is that when i capture and use edit studio pro. bdw i have an 8mm sony cam corder im seeing extra sides greenish. if i connect to tv directly from cam dont show, only with capture card. i hope u help me now. sorry 4 b4 but im just a begginner :thanks:

First do open THAT avi stream in Virtualdub, make a screenshot to the clipboard (ctrl-1), paste it into a picture editor and safe it as jpeg. This jpeg u do host at www.imageshack.us where do you post the resulted link from that page here.
By this we can see what you mean.

The options for getting rid of garbage at the edges:

a) The elegant way: Do use avisynth for that (www.avisynth.org) and read in here the guides. PARanoia or in Fit2Disk(imho) you can set the cropping manually where a ready made avisynths cript will be the result.
b) the less elegant way: Do determine the cropping in the capture engine of VirtualDub BUT you have to add these mising borders after capturing in Virtualdub using its Filters (Resize maybe?) before encoding at its proper final resolution.
