No, Windows Gouenne Advantage is all about verifying your OS version is "legal". The module can be disabled though, thanks to IE anti spyware features :D

Well, the hilarious thing is i got a knoppix live cd certified as Genuine Microsoft Software... and MS was so kind to let me download the "exclusive for MS customers" software from their website...

I'm getting knoppix at this very monent. I wanted to have a linux for a while, but I had wierd crash (bad Dual Channel memory I fould lately). :D

OT: i got knoppix 4.02 thru bittorrent at ~400k/s. Not bad... however the genuine thing trick just works in every live distro i tried and, of course, on gentoo too:)

I only have XP on my WS, gentoo woulsdbe too long to install. I want knoppix to test linux in GUI. Do you have a link to the torrent? I'm getting it at 10KB/s :(

I am annoyed at MS.

I dont use any Windows Machine to connect to the WWW as I
continually manage to get viruses. I refuse to invest time
to fight/remove viruses. With Linux, thats simply not the
case, i dont care the reason.

But I do have other machines that are not connected to the
www and were legally paid. I cant download things I am normally
allowed to (if i would connect with these machines), as this
thing prevents me to download it via my linux machine.

I am unhappy with MS.
They got too big and lazy, its not what a customer wants,
its what a company wants. That sucks.

But I got what i needed from the MS anyway, without using
MS. DirectX update which was needed for an OpenSource
Game. ;)
