View Full Version : DVD Issues (Chapter jumping during playback)

First off, I'm using DVD Rebuilder PRO RC5.1 with CCE SP 2.67, VBR 35, Passes 4, Quality Prec 24. I've encoded 5 dvds with this setup already. Three functioned perfectly, however, the last 2 dvd's I backed up are acting very strange during playing. After rebuilding 'Sideways', I played it in my xbox. After about 45 mins of flawless playback, the dvd suddenly skips back a chapter and resumes play at 30 mins. This is really odd because my xbox has never done anything like this before. What is even more odd is that my previous backups played through perfectly. If I skip forward, I can get past the spot and continue to the end (this weird reverse chapter skip only seems to happen once per dvd). I adjusted my quality prec along with the passes for the last few encodes, but I don't think that should make a difference. Any ideas anyone?
thanks

Update to RC6(The most recent version). There were fixes implemented for SCR calculations that might fix your problem.

I can't find any way to update to RC6, the last time I visited the site it looked a lot different. Anyways, I deleted the email that my pro edition came in. I registered on the site, but I still can't find a way to get the RC6 update. I just can't understand why the first few worked okay, it seems really wierd. Also, I dont think there is any arrccos protection, 'Jaws' and 'Sideways' are both pretty old DVD releases.

Hmmm.... what site might that be? You'd think I'd know about the registration site, wouldn't you...
If you have a legitimate copy of DVD-RB Pro all you have to do is request a copy of v1.00 RC6 from dvd-rb@dvd-rb.com and it will be sent to you. Of course your registered e-mail will have to be in the database...

Okay, thanks for the help. I requested a copy via email and have already received the update. Thanks for the quick reply.

Unfortunately updating to the latest version of Rebuilder did not solve the problem. What is really bothering me is that it's not even jumping at chapter skips, just random points in the movie. The wierd thing is, it will never skip in the middle of a scene (like during dialouge or soemthing like that), it always happens when the camera cuts away or changes, but these are never actual chapter skips. I can't even understand how that could be possible.

Something exceptionally odd is happening... I'd suggest you remove DVD-RB completely from your system and install it again completely using the Installer package. Make sure you use only the tools that came with it -- don't upgrade, for example, to a newer version of DGDECODE or AVISYNTH.
