23,976 fps blended into 29,97p

Any chance to restore this?
There are no interlace artifacts at all. It's a pattern of 3 clean frames and 2 blended frames (don't sure, if it's consistent over the entire clip).
I want to do a PAL conversion with speedup to 25p, hence I need the restored progressive source.
I tried restore24, which works great on interlaced material, but seems to fail on progressive source like this one.

Indeed, this is out of the scope of R24.
Sounds like a job for "RestoreFPS" of mg262 [Search]. However I'm not sure about the current state of RestoreFPS ... could be it is in the middle of somewhere, actually.

I <3 Premiere. (Adobe thinks blending is the best IVTC, or at least did for a long time. Evil.)

Unblend works awesomely on 4/1 blend patterns, but won't do 3/2 or anything else anything else, alas. As I posted in the restorefps thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=718389#post718389) last week, I've been wrestling with this exact problem and developing a script to mitigate it. A hard drive death sidetracked me for a few days, but I'm going to get back to working on it tomorrow.

RestoreFPS won't actually help, being pal-oriented, but it will give rather psychadelic results if you want to try. =D

I have loads of this Didée. :( Seems most of the "missing" BBC material recovered from around the world did either this, or blended 50fps to 24FPS slowed to 23.976 and re-interlaced. :{

There is no interlaced Comb Teeth, only 3/4 frames blured together for each of 23.976 frames per second. :( It's not the odd episode, it's whole runns of history.

ah, the old "point a film camera at the TV" trick? and then that was telecined and blur-deinterlaced? damn, is there any picture left?

FWIW there's a (semi-active) thread about restoring 24fps from blended 3:2. i'm not sure how well it's working - apparently it works perfectly on the right kind of source :)

yes, the way the BBC just decided to burn all their old stuff is a real shame. i just hope that sort of thing doesn't happen again. though it's happened other times too. when this sort of thing happens, bootleggers become extremely important. with copy protection getting the way it is, who knows whether we'll be able to recover what's lost next time? there's always the "analog hole" of course, and de-macrovision boxes.
