View Full Version : Does N-VOPs related to ESS standalone option in Autogk?

I used GSpot to examine my newly converted Xvid movie; I discovered that the NVOP(N-VOPS) didn't light up, but previously it was lighted up for my Divx movie. Is that related to the disable of ESS standalone support in the Xvid?(I didn't select it when installing Autogk)
Since I found that all of the Xvid that I obtain from others have this option(NVOP) on, have I miss something I should do, say, enable the ESS?

I must say I hadn't come across NVOPS before, however found the following thread which provides some discussion/debate - http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=93263
bond seems to sum up the situation with NVOPS well in this particular post within the thread:

You may find that the other files showing with NVOPS actually use packed bit streams, which apparently causes dummy NVOPS.
None of my recent XviD encodes with AGK seem to have NVOPS and they all play fine. I've never used DivX in AGK to know if it normally produces NVOPS.
Based on what I've seen mentioned in various discussions about the ESS compatibility I don't believe NVOPS have anything to do with that.

if you have b-frames enabled (default in xvid) than you will have only n-vops in the stream if packed bitstream is enabled
