I need to extract parts of a DVD for a movie I am making for a person's birthday party and then create a new DVD overlayed with different music.
I have somehow managed to stumble through the process of converting a DVD to an AVI file but I am unable to "strip" the sequences I need from it.
What program do I need to do this?

Cuttermaran is a good editor, which can do so with a VOB vile without re-encoding.

Thanks for the info, guys...I never did get Cuttermaran to work, but I was able to do what I was attempting - partially. I used MPeg2Cut to rip from the VOB files, but the frames are jerky in some places It looks like I just need to spend a lot of time reading..

Cuttermaran will open many file types, you only have to type *.* in the filename box so it will display them.
