IVTC problem with TMPEGEnc

After weeks of trying to manually deinterlace (2:2 pull down) a PAL DVD i haven't had any luck. The field order is set correctly. No matter what video source i try every second frame is interlaced. Even progessively encoded clips. I've tried both feeding the .vob directly to TMPGENc and creating a dvd2avi project. So i was wondering... what am i doing wrong? Also what fps setting should i be using? Are there any sample clips that i can use to test (and that have been sucessfullly IVTC'd) if it's a problem with my system?

Upload a VOB fragment to my FTP server and give the filename here. I'm sure several people will look it over and give their opinions.

and just for reference:

* I have created a dgindex project of the .vob which is fed through to tempgenc.
* In DGIndex it indicates the vob is interlaced but its actually progressive if you analyze each frame

I have followed the tutorial closely a high flicker rate indicates that it's not a usable frame and it should not be selected. But the video is actually not interlaced! it only happens i put it through the invesere telecine filter.

Any ideas?

ok after reading it seems:

"however many frames there are, there will be a and b fields for each frame, so twice as many fields as frames" which explains a progressive next to a interlaced frame. My question is say if i have a 10 sequence and in the middle somewhere theres all interlaced frames do i just use odd, even or whatever? or is there a better way to do it?

Just to add:

If i have a 3 min vob and the sequence is 101010 in the middle its all interlaced and you can't discard any of the interlaced frames (i.e. if i select the red box it's interlaced and so is the one next to it) and leave progressive ones.

In this case is it OK to use the best looking de-interlace method depending on the scene?

If this is the case; wouldn't i better off just deinterlacing the whole thing because mostly all the clip is progressive and worrying about a few interlaced frames in the middle won't matter much anyway since i'll be deinterlacing them manually? :confused:
