I've captured video from a VCR device with Virtual VCR without in the fly sound compression. Later in VirtualDubMod, when i want to compress audio in Stream list i choose compression to mp3. I click Save As and i get this message:

Erorr initializing audio stream compression.
The requested conversion is not possible.

I've installed lame and i've coppied lame_enc.dll in windows\system32 folder. Upper mentioned in the fly compression in the Virtual VCR is also impossible (i get similar message). :(

Give more info: audio sampling rate of the source, which lame setting you pick.

i've not mentioned that i can save audio to .wav, then in razor lame i can encode it and later again join video and sound but it would be nice to that directly from VDM.

source is PCM i guess (not compressed), and it won't work with any lame setting

"i guess" doesnt help any one much.

please open the file in virtualdub, go to file --> file information and post audio information here.

which lame version are you using?

you must save mp3 with same samplerate and bit-debth(e.g. if your source has 16-bit 44100Hz you must save mp3 with same)

If this doesn't work, try to do this using NanDub

Sorry if I had some mistake in my english
