VDubMod dll dependencies problem

Just reinstalled VDub and VDubMod on my new machine. VDub works fine, but VDubMod gives two dll-related errors before opening. It complains that ImgLib.dll and MSVCP71.dll could not be found.

A search for "ImgLib.dll" here reveals only this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=50998), which does make mention of ImgLib.dll (but not the MSVCP71.dll) and mentions removing ImageSequence.dll from the AviSynth plugins folder. I hesitate to do that, but even when I do I still get the error involving MSVCP71.

Any known solutions?

Does anyone know what this is about? I searched for and downloaded both MSCVP71 and ImgLib.dll and dropped them in the Windows/system directory. That made those problems go away. But every time I add in a new DLL, there's something else missing.

After I added ImgLib.dll, it told me it couldn't find "supersub.dll." So I downloaded supersub and dropped it in. Now it tells me it can't find "zlib.dll." I hesitate to even look for that as I feel certain that it's just going to want something else.

What the heck are all these DLL's for, and what do they have to do with VDubMod (and yet do not affect VDub)?

edit: Interestingly, if I add the MSCVP71.dll in and remove ImageSequence.dll from the AviSynth/plugins directory, all problems go away. But I'd still like to know what's going on. ImageSequence.dll sounds rather important ....
