I have a menu where the selected option is shown by displaying a bullet.
Is there a way to change these bullets and their positon in relation to the option your selecting?
Thnxs in advance

of course :)

It's all outlined in goonix's thread How to make a new menu or modify the background image of a menu (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=99306) Start at "MODIFY A DVD-MENU WITH MUXMAN" in the first post if the menu is 4:3. You'd just need to edit the subpicture and background to change the bullets or move them, etc.

Thnxs,
i had read it but does not answer my question about the bullets. Also i use a slightly diferent method to make changes to menus's (only non video menus so far) based on this post Change menu image and text (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=555936&highlight=alien+menu#post555936) and should be capable of video as well!

So i guess to clarify;

I can do everything with regards to changing menu's apart from i cant work out how to see let alone change the postion of bullets to indicate the menu selection when working with a menu setup this way

That’s why goonix's thread is better to follow, with my old guide you could only edit the background. I was still looking for a free authoring programme to edit the overlay. I used Maestro to edit overlay and location, goonix found it in muxman. So you can chance the background and the overlay picture.
As you describe your menu, it’s sounds like its a Button over "video".
question do you see the bullets in the extracted m2v ? If so than the overlay will be simple square boxes with the same colour as the background. After modification of the bullets and overlay boxes you will also have to chance the position in the vob, I think is't possible with the free version of menuedit.

hehe,
Greetz Msc_Alex: I hadn't got round to extracting the m2v etc yet as always to many fingers in to many pie's... but i will. By the way have you checked out the latest version of DVDAuthorGUI cause it supports basic video for menu's or at least it appears to

Yes I had tried it back then, the problem was you could only add rectanglular box's as overlay button (so the original one was waisted) but it worked. :p

In DVDAuthorGUI, you can also add bmp buttons of whatever you like (buttons ,bullets, arrows, pointing finger, etc). You can do this from the menu editor, by clicking the 'advanced' tab, and adding a bmp image.

:thanks: liquid217 ! For a great tool, tried it but is there a way to set the transparency level for the colors? The highlights will still be square when the background isn’t the same color.

Currently, the GUI is hard coded to use #010101 as a transparent color. If you look in the program files/DVDAuthorGUI directory, there are some sample buttons included.

Sorry for the lazy approach.....

How do you use DVDAuthorGUI to manipulate the sub pic and can you use bullets in the subpic?
