So, has anybody tried the new Pro version of DVD Author? I loved the original standard version and this seems to add some much needed features (such as full menu editing). For me, its currently replaced DVDLab , just for the shear ease of use now I've set a template up as I need it (output looks and acts identical to my DVDLab projects). Its crashed once or twice and I've got 1 issue with a menu background video rendering a little 'choppy' but other than that, well worth the investment. I believe theres no support for subtitles but that doesn’t affect me.

In testing this new version, it appears that it will not create an mpeg file from vob's saved to the harddrive. I know the prior version would create an mpeg to import into TDA, but this version creates multiple files in some type of proprietary format only TDA will accept.

I don't care for that as I would sometimes use TDA to quickly create an mpeg for use in other applications.

In my former version of TDA (Tsunami MPEG DVD Author), there was a menu template that I used frequently as it had two buttons on the first menu - "Play All" and "View Chapters". Although the new version does provide additional templates, it appears they have decided to exclude my favorite. I wonder if it will allow me to import the earlier version template into the PRO application.

As of right now, it is not worth the $80 upgrade it would cost. They are only giving a $20 discount for owners of Tsunami DVD Author. They are giving a $40 discount for users of TmpgEnc DVD Author. I don't quite understand that rationale, but they make the rules.
