How is the quality of audio is affected when I use VBR or CBR or ABR

Generally speaking: CBR gives you a constant data-rate but an unsteady quality. In contrast, VBR ensures a constant quality level but will result in an unsteady data-rate.

Usually VBR and ABR (ABR is actually just one way of creating VBR) work more efficient. So ABR and VBR, compared to CBR, give (usually) a better quality at the same file size. Of course with VBR it's hard to predict the filesize before encoding...
