Do any of you have any experience with the Primera Signature Z1 CD/DVD Thermal Printer? At about $130 it seems like it might be a touch high priced for a single function printer (as compared to say, a $90 Epson R200). But something about the ability to create a simple, water and scratch resistant label on CDs and DVDs sounds very appealing, particularly if your handwriting is as horrible as mine is. I read a review (http://www.extrememhz.com/sigz1-p1.shtml) that was overall fairly positive, but I would be interested in hearing from actual owners of this printer. Comments on the media you use with it and pics of media labeled with the Z1 would also be great if you happen to have any.

TIA

I recently purchased this printer from Rima (http://www.rima.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=R&Product_Code=2778&Category_Code=CP) and I'm pleased with it so far. I used to mark my discs with a cd marker and this device simplifies the process and gives it a much more professional look. I haven't tried printing graphics yet so I really can't attest to that feature but for simple text it works well. I make sure to start printing the text a couple of spaces in and down because I noticed that it cuts part of the letters off when placed directly on the borders. Also, I have had to use fonts of 20 (Arial) or greater in order to make the label large enough (it defaults to 15.5). Other than that it has served me well. I originally thought of getting the CW-50 (http://www.rima.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=R&Product_Code=2740&Category_Code=CP) but didn't like the fact that the replacement ink is more expensive than Primera's.

I primarily use Taiyo Yuden (http://www.rima.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=R&Product_Code=1736-100&Category_Code=DMRTY) and Ritek (http://www.rima.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=R&Product_Code=1780-100&Category_Code=DMRRITK) silver top discs for printing and the bold black text is very legible and clean looking. I've tried rubbing the print itself to see if it would smear and it doesn't, however when I licked my finger and rubbed again it started to come off slowly. So I guess under normal circumstances the print is durable. Just don't lick your discs :)

I don't have a way to host pics of the discs but they closely resemble those in the review you linked to.
