The cartoon Family Guy was edited in the software Adobe Premiere (legacy, not pro). As some people know, Premiere had this "feature" where when you reduced the speed of a clip below 100%, it would deinterlace that clip. Not only would it deinterlace the clip, but it would use THE CRAPPIEST DEINTERLACING TECHNIQUE known to man!
It's quite unfortunate the the first couple of seasons of Family Guy were edited on this software, because the DVDs have these deinterlacing artifacts all over them. I was wondering if there might be any hope of making it look... not so bad?
Here is a VOB segment from the first episode:

without downloading it: you do mean those bobby artifacts, eh?

There is no way to fix them.
(Besides someone writes an bob-recognitor-corrector. Me won't be this person)

hmm... it might be possible to detect bobbing artefacts i suppose... maybe a comparison metric between the original frame and a singel field of it? frames showing up lower than a threshold would be replaced by the last (or next) frame?

that would only work for single frames with the problem though... if there's entire sequences like this it could be difficult. maybe blendbob could be hacked to mix these horrid fields together?
