View Full Version : Decimate improperly deinterlaced sources?

I have an old video that should have been IVTCed, but it was simply deinterlaced, and I no longer have access to the source. If there a method to simply decimate the blended frames to get a 23.976fps output? It seems like it should be easy enough...

I don't think decimation will be quite enough:

A B C D D (30fps)
A B B C D

After these are blended, C no longer exists. It's still pretty simple to reverse -- I'm pretty sure scharfis posted a script to do this once, although a script probably wont cope with pattern breaks very well.

I am interested in looking at this stuff...would you be able to upload a chunk of the source?

From what I can tell, the blended frame is just a blend of the previous and next frame, so there isn't actually any missing frame. Here's a scene with just a panning motion, so its easy to see.

may be useful, but it is not up to date, so you'll probably need to modify the script.

That script seems to not work on this material. In fact it seems to add 2 additional "blended" frames to the sequence, leaving only 1 good frame :p

yeah. this script is not suited for this kind of video.

loadplugin("D:\x\unblend.dll")
loadplugin("D:\x\decomb.dll")
avisource("deinterlace.avi")
unblend()
decimate()

helps!
