"error inserting SCR" ?

"DVD Rebuilder experienced an error inserting SCR. [23:48:04] 00021 00006"

I am using v1.00 RC6 with CCE v2.50. This error occurred during REBUILD. I tried to rebuild again with the same result.

The title is "Limelight", region 4, PAL. Preprocessed with DVDShrink to leave only the main movie.

I have tried searching for this error but found nothing. Can anyone suggest what has caused this error, and how to fix/prevent it?

Have you tried rerunning RB without pre-processing first to eliminate the possibility of any preprocessing errors, which might have cause RB to fail?
I feel sure that jdobbs will want you to do this before investing time in searching for a bug that may not be as a result of RB.

OK will try. I just like using shrink because it updates the IFOs with the correct audio/subtitle attributes.

ok it worked. Strange error though. That's twice in as many days that I've had problems with DVDShrink sources.

This appears to be a typical error in DVD Shrink in re-author mode. It reports the wrong number of VOBIDs in the IFOs. Happens 100% of the time when there is a VOBID change.

Solution? If you like preprocessing first with DVD Shrink (why is the question?) then immediately afterwards, open the project in PgcEdit. It will detect the incorrect number of VOBIDs in the IFO and fix them for you. Save and load into DVD-RB and process away.

Thanks for this one.

I have had several problems with preprocessing shrink. DVD-RB did the prepare step, but after giving the end results it was going into the galaxy with 100% cpu and not doing anything anymore. Always occured when DVDSHRINK was used.

I now will use PGCEDIT to find out if it's the real problem.

Buy the way, DVDSHRINK does NOT removes nicely the straems (audio & subtiteling) you deselect........ I wish it DID !!!

When you import such a DVD into DVD_RB the streams are still there as 'unrefenced' and you have to use DVD-RB's red cross option to really make them go away....

So SHRINK is even not the tool to nicely remove audio/subtitling streams, DVD-RB does it better......

Although a stand alone player will not make a mess out of it, they seem not to see unreferenced streams......

But let's keep it as nice and clean as possible. DVD-RB does the job, and Shrink won't....

I think you have that backwards. RB does not remove the audio/subtitle streams in the IFO's, but Shrink DOES. Only version 3.2 though.

Again, if you want to remove the stream entirely from the IFOs, just use the PGC Editor in PgcEdit to "disable" the stream. Or its macro - fix # of streams in VMGM/VTSI_MAT tables.

Sorry to reopen this thread, but, I did a search this time(WOO HOO...not being lazy today ;)) and came across this. This is the same error I'm getting in the rebuild phase of a movie only copy. The odd thing is I didn't do any preprocessing on the movie at all....ripped to my hard drive with anydvd and ran DVD-RB against that directly. It's a straight movie only copy where I selected an AC3-6 audio stream and 2 english subtitles. This is DVD RB Pro 1.01. Any thoughts?

The only way I could see this happening is with an illegal SCR value. For the next release I've added to the error message so it also displays the value. Can you look at the last VOB file written with VOBEDIT and see what SCR was last output?

I will do so as soon as I get home tonight and post it. It definitely seems odd considering I didn't molest the source at all. I can try reripping it and see if that helps, as well, but, I'll definitely post the value later. Thanks!

So, in any case, just so I can get this movie backed up I will reauthor the original files and run that through DVD-RB. I will, however, backup my DVD-RB work directory in case you want me to try anything else or need more info on this. If you're like me it'll drive you nuts until you figure out why it's happening. I just don't want you to have to spend a lot of time on this because there's always a way to get the end result I want. I simply found it to be an odd case that I thought you should know about. And as you can probably tell, I've been doing dvd backups for a long time HOWEVER I can honestly say I'm not nearly as well versed in DVD structure as I should be. I'll definitely take some time this weekend to bone up on the terminology and what it all means. I'd like to be comfortable with things like PGCEdit, vob blanker, etc, and right now I'm not. Obviously there are some excellent guides here on doom9 so I'm sure I'll get up to speed in no time. It's all just another programming language to learn, after all. :) Thanks again!

Going back over this I just noticed something:- Rebuilding seg 36 VOBID 1 CELLID 37The segment being worked is #36 -- but the last one written to the VOB file is #20 -- where are all the segments in between? It looks almost as if your encoder failed for a large group of segments and there is no M2V for them. DVD Rebuilder sees what the next SCR "should" be, then what it "is" and (apparently) choking on it.

Does your LOG show "M2V file missing" messages?

Nope, it didn't complain about anything missing. I manually verified the d2vavs folder and there is indeed an m2v file for every segment in there. Freaky ain't it?

Son of a ....! I found the "issue". The disc has mastering errors on it. I'll have to return it and get another copy. Hence, the original source material is screwed up and that's what's causing the dvd-rb problems. I should have scanned it earlier but when I went to reauthor it I had issues, as well. Sorry to waste your time.

*UPDATE*

Just for future reference on this thread in case anyone ever views it again, I recopied the original files off the hard drive and was able to process it just fine. So, it would seem that it was a bad initial copy and nothing more. Such fun!
