Hi,
do I need to desinstall the old version of AGK before installing a new one ?
i.e. from 2.16b to 2.18.1b ? Same thing for XviD codec, do I need to remove the old one before installing a new version of AGK (which contains a new build of XviD, i.e the 2.18.1b) ?
Thanks:-)

No .. i don't think so .. because the version is released as an update .. not a standalome version ..

If you are installing an AGK version which has XviD and AVISynth bundled _and_ you have selected them too for installation, uninstall the previous versions of XviD and AVISynth first before continuing with the current installation (no need to uninstall AutoGK).
If not, i.e, you are updating just AGK, DGIndex, audio tools or VirtualDubMoD, the previous versions of these tools can be overwritten. So nothing needs to be uninstalled and you can proceed with the current installation.
Hope it's clear.

is it that bad not to uninstall avisynth when new version comes bundled with agk package? I understand it for xvid, but I thought avisynth was like VDM or lame or whatever. just asking

It depends. Might work for some, might b0rk for some. Better this way to avoid any conflicts. I follow this method - not just with AVISynth, but with any "installed" software (i.e. one which was done with an installer as opposed to something like VirtualDubMoD which we just extract to a folder), I wipe the previous version before installing the newer one.
