View Full Version : When trying to burn DVD-RB output files, Nero reports problems

Hi, I just tried to burn my first DVD-RB backup. I put all the files from the DVDFILES\VIDEO_TS folder into the red VIDEO_TS folder in Nero and got these messages:

File Video_TS.vob is not referenced and should not be present
DVD-Video files reallocation failed
DVD-Video files compliance ignored

The DVD apparently plays fine, but it's still worrying. Can anyone tell me what the problem is? Thanks.

The issue is with Nero. It seems to have a penchant for flagging as "errors" things that are not necessarily so.

In the example you have given, DVD-RB has reproduced a VOB that was present on the original. The reason is obvious -- because when backing up a disc it makes the backup as close to the original as possible. But Nero doesn't like the fact that the VOB is "unreferenced". The truth is, however, that it is also "unreferenced" on the original.

I could remove unreferenced sources -- but in most cases I don't want to. I want my backup to match the original.

My recommendation is that you output to ISO and burn with DVD Decrypter. It is rock solid. Some other "intelligent" packages also have a tendency to move things around when they shouldn't. I use B's Recorder Gold (because it came with my burner) to burn my VIDEO_TS directories -- and it never complains.
