Hi all! I'm newbie here and maybe my question is silly, but I want understand some fundamentals.

So, I've ripped my dvd by DvdDecrypter:
12.09.2005 18:59 287 vts_01 - stream information.txt
12.09.2005 18:38 110*592 vts_01_0.ifo
12.09.2005 18:43 1*073*569*792 vts_01_1.vob
12.09.2005 18:48 1*073*704*960 vts_01_2.vob
12.09.2005 18:53 1*073*674*240 vts_01_3.vob
12.09.2005 18:59 900*773*888 vts_01_4.vob

then I converted them to avi by mpegmediator tool and ......
I have now the avi 1.3Gb and 3 hours long!!!
Inside of it there are titres (credits) at the beginning of avi, then 10 minutes goes film, then titres againg! and the plot of film is mixed up, parts are confused.

Also I did it by just straight copying vob's to HD too instead of DVDDecryptor - the same, I did to the avi conversion by VirtualDubMod and some other tools too - the same.

I have already 2 films that kind (mixed parts, long time and big size).
Other couple tens are OK. :o(

What I'm doing wrong?
tnx

It's either a multi-angle dvd or it has ILVUs. Try to rip it again with DVDDecrypter but use the option "File Mode" -> "Multi-angle processing" = angle 1

Hello and welcome to the forum-

It sounds as if you have a Multi-Angle DVD, perhaps a Disney or Buena Vista title where the credits switch back and forth. Go back to DVD Decrypter, change it to IFO Mode (at the top; Mode->IFO), select one of the angles, and decrypt it properly.

Damn, Taelon beat me to it.

But what should I do if I have no that dvd anymore? Only vob files and ifo already ripped.

Open the correct IFO in PGCDemux (http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/dvdtools.htm), choose a location and an angle, and extract the video (don't forget to check the box) and audio.

But PGCDemux shows me one PGC in combobox: PGC #01->03:10:47.08
Will demuxed video and audio streams be over 3 hours long too?

Why don't you have the DVD anymore?

Why don't you have the DVD anymore?

It was my friend's dvd. He brought it to me to make a mpeg4 copy.

Well, that angle will be. Why, isn't the movie that long? Did you check the other angles? Maybe you have the Theatrical and Extended Editions in the same DVD, or something like that.

Maybe you have the Theatrical and Extended Editions in the same DVD, or something like that.

More than likely the DVD has something like opening titles in several languages as well as bonus scenes, and ripping the DVD in file mode will rip them all. Playback of these files will include all possible selectable features switched at about 4-second intervals. The only way to get the correct files is to rip the DVD again. You may note in the future that asking for help with copyrighted material that you do not own is against the forum rules.

He can also create an ISO of the files (with ImgTool Classic, for example), open it in Daemon Tools, and then decrypt it from the virtual drive.

@Comrad

As an experiment, instead of MPEGMediator, try using FlaskMPEG to "Open DVD" - and select "VTS_01_0.IFO"
