Removable CVD/SVCD subtitles NOT displayed in MPC!

Hiya, after some time of doing DVDs exclusively I've come back to DVD2SVCD since I gotta do some testing. I was happy to read in the FAQ that MPC now supports CVD/SVCD subtitles so I ripped a short clip of 1 min with 1.2.2 Build 3 and english/german audio/subs. But when I played them back on MPC 6.484 (XP) subtitles were greyed out in the play menu, I also could not switch audio streams. How come?

My old standalone with ESS chipset does displays the CVD subtitles and switches between audio streams just fine.

Usually I am using the context menu (right click when the video is loaded) and then Filters->name of file (the very bottom line)-> now you see the choices for subtitles and audio streams.

MMh, when I do this it's greyed out.
