Nerodigital filesizes!?!

if I tell Nero to split my file between 2 DVD-Rs, I get 25 files. Now if I encode just half of it and target one DVD-R, I get 1 file. Unfortunately it's ~10% too large. Another oddity is that the halfway point of 1:06:28 appeared as 1:04:02 on the Nero timeline. After the encode the 1st half was indeed 1:06:28. Does Recode have these problems when making DVDs?

Mp4. I'm using the "Recode DVDs and videos to Nero Digital" option of Recode 2's main menu.

I tried a different video and it too gave the many files problem during disc splitting. However when 1 DVD is targeted, the file would fit onto a DVD. The original video, BTW, is from a captured transport stream that cannot be converted to an insync avi as in this thread. http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=49349

The audio of the .ts file, the output of VideoRedo and the MP4 is in sync with the video.
