Ok, I am having some trouble with VirtualDubMod. I use it to extract certain scene's from VOB's i put onto my computer, so i can save them as AVI. Well, there are some VOB's that when i open them i get this error (Mostly on TV show DVD's, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Roswell etc...)

"MPEG: Anachronistic or discontinuous timestamp found in audio stream 29 at byte position 149510162 (never the same), from 16637736 to 16701672. This may indicate an improper join."

When i get this error the word's will not go right with the video, even when i make it where the audio and video durations match. I always make sure that the audio is in "Full processing mode" as well. If anyone can help me out, that would be great.

Hasn't your problem (Ultimately, to have a synchronized .AVI) been resolved in this other thread?

I posted it again here because i didnt see this section at first, and i thought i might get an answer here instead of having to use a new program all together. And to answer your question about using an uncompressed AVI, i know it make's a HUGE file, but i like to convert the uncompressed AVI to RM, or WMV and would rather have a perfect quality AVI to convert with.

1) I'm quite certain that if you use MPEGMediator with, for example, the DivX v.3.11alpha codec set to 6,000kbps, you won't observe any diminution of quality

2) If you wish to convert .VOBs to .WMV format, why did you ask about .AVI? For information/downloads for converting .VOBs to .WMV, perform a simple Googlesearch for (INCLUDE quotation marks):

"VOB to WMV"

Ok... I dont only convert to WMV or RM, I convert my clip's to all sort's of formats, those were just examples. Also, i sort of know there are converter's to get "VOB to WMV" i would really just like an answer to the VirtualDub question, or to find a program that can do pretty much the same thing. I use AVI because pretty much every converter out there support's AVI conversion to something, so an uncompressed AVI (or divx, w/e) is just the easiest way to go, in my own opinion. Oh, and when i want a Divx clip i prefer using Dr. Divx, instead of the codec.

and to get back onto the subject i really would like an answer to,
Does anyone know what could fix my problem with VirtualDubMod?

when i want a Divx clip i prefer using Dr. Divx

To each his own...

Just curious though - Why did you state that?:

A) Your problem is in using VirtualDubMOD (Not Dr.DivX) for converting .VOB clips to .AVI

and

B) (In your other thread) MPEGMediator worked for you

Can't you simply use Dr.Divx to convert your desired .VOB clips to DivX-compressed, or virtually uncompressed, .AVIs?

When you load a vob for cutting, does that vob span multiple episodes? If so, I'd suggest you rip on an episode-by-episode basis using (say) DVD Decrypter in PGC mode, and then fiddle with those.

OMG!!!!!! stop asking why i state thing's, i dont use the Divx codec cause i rarely use Divx clips. And if i do, i will just use Dr. Divx to start with. i stated it because you keep recommending that i use the divx codec, and i dont use it.

Yes, MPEG Mediator worked for me, but i cant extract just a certian part of the VOB i want, it doesnt let you get an end point. It doesnt produce Uncompressed AVI's, or let you state an exact size you would like the video output to be. So... i would rather just get an answer to the VOB question.

I do use DVD Decryptor, and i only rip 1 chapter at a time, sometime's a full episode, but never the full Disc. I thought that ripping just 1 chapter might be the problem, so i tried ripping the entire episode, entire disk, and no such luck.

That's strange, perhaps you should demux the audio from the Vob and scan it in BeSplit/BeSliced to make sure it is not corrupt. I doubt you'll find a problem, but it's something to eliminate.

It sounds like you aim is to get an uncompressed avi of a segment, so with that in mind an alternative (and lossless) approach may be to:
-Use DGIndex on the Vob to get a d2v and ac3(s)
-Write a simple avisynth script pointing to the d2v
-Open the avs in VirtualDubMod and add the audio
-Edit as desired and then save as avi.

I have been told to do that... i am not familiar with Demuxing audio. Could you tell me how to? i know that you can with DVD Decryptor, but i really don't know how too.

My "How to rip a DVD audiostream, using DVD Decrypter":

1) Load your DVD

2) Set DVD Decrypter to "IFO" mode

3) DVD Decrypter should automatically highlight/select the main movie under the "Input" tab

4) Click on the "Stream Processing" tab and check "Enable stream processing"

5) UNcheck all of the videostreams and audiostreams OTHER THAN THE ONE YOU WISH TO EXTRACT

6) Click on "Demux"

7) Click on the "Destination" icon and select the drive/folder location to save the audiostream to

8) Click on the "Decrypt" icon

Note - For an LPCM stereo audiostream, you may have to go to:

Tools>>Settings>>IFO Mode and increase the VOB size from 1Gb to 2Gb, in order to be sure to generate only one .VOB for the entire audiostream
