I want to know how to capture to the xvid format with better resolution than what exists in virtual dub capture. When I use software provided with my capture card the audio goes out of synch. The only app that works is AM cap but the file size gets so huge and even after I convert it to xvid with mp3 an hour video is around 2.5 gigs.

Hi!

even after I convert it to xvid with mp3 an hour video is around 2.5 gigs.

Naah - Sounds like the audio HASN'T been converted to .MP3 - It's probably in Uncompressed PCM (.WAV) form...

no I compressed the audio too. In virtual dub I selected full process mode for both Audio and video and for audio I chose the lame MP3 codec with 128 kbit mode.

It would help a lot if you explained what you mean by "better resolution than what exists in VD capture". Did you try VDub 1.6.10?

..In virtual dub I selected full process mode for both Audio and video...Sounds like these are settings for encoding during post-processing, and therefore after capture, and not settings for use during capture. Have you seen section 6.2 of the Capture Guide?
