Anime lines issue --deinterlaced turns into another prob

I'm trying to encode a few titles in Xvid 1.0.3 (from DVD) and I'm running into a few problems. I'm using FairUse Wizard 2.1 to encode, and it auto-detects to use IVTC mode. If I do use IVTC, the anime looks great except for certain areas where there are shadowed lines that are visible. You have to be watching for this when viewing it, but you can see it. When doing a search for this, I found information about deinterlacing, but everything I saw had lines thru all of the video.(not just certain areas like i'm getting) Below are a couple of pics of what these areas look like.

Also.. the resolutions are 688x464, bitrate= approx. 1609. If I chose to use IVTC with Bob Deinterlace (or Native and Bob Deinterlace), the problem goes away, but then I have a new problem where straight lines get a "scrambled" look to them. Below is a pic showing what it looks like.

Could anyone recommend what I need to do to fix this? Or is this a normal effect after Anime to Xvid that I'll have to just live with?

those lines are from errors in the DVD, not errors with IVTC (the source was most likely interlaced, and the DVD encoders probably interlaced and interlaced source, or something weird).

When problems like that occured for me, I typically just use VirtualDub's built in deinterlace filter with blur on to blur over all the nasty lines. However, since you're using a wizard, I'm not sure if that's an option.

I take the first two pics as a sign of bad editing/mastering of the DVD.... tends to happen on b0rked scene cuts.... try some other IVTC filter or you can do it manually...

the third is kinda odd... a full screenshot or consecutive frames from the source and/or encoded clip is welcome for further investigation...

I don't see a problem with the MPEGs. They are fine.

This script does the IVTC very nice and with any chroma errors.
So I guess it is the used software, that produces the chroma errors.

Thanks for looking at the VOB samples. I tried using AutoGordian Knot and it converted them to Xvid without any problems. Don't know what FairUseWizard 2.1 is doing to them to cause the problems. Going to post about it again in their forums.
