View Full Version : How to rip "standalone" VOB-Files?

Hi,
I have some isolated VOB-files on my harddisk, i.e. without the corresponding IFO- etc. files, and I would like to rip them for further DivX processing.
But neither SmartRipper nor Decrypter seem to offer the possibility to rip those bare files without having some additional information files.
Are there any possibilities / tools to process such standalone VOBs? :confused:
I'd be glad for any hint! Thanks a lot!

Hi!

I presume these .VOBs are not copy protected.
1) You should be able to use either MPEG Mediator or VirtualDubMOD (Different than standard VirtualDub) directly to convert the .VOBs to DivX-compressed .AVIs
2) If need be (depending on how you wish to convert the .VOBs), you can use IFOEdit to create new .IFO files for the .VOBs. This should make them usable with SmartRipper.
DVDDecrypter cannot process DVD file "packages" from your hard drive

Thanks for your quick reply, setarip_old!
1) I'm currently using GordianKnot which requires a .d2v or .avi file to process the (ripped) VOBs via VirtualDubMOD, and I do not know much about the other tools involved (AviSynth etc.) - and maybe I do not even want to ;-) So, how can I proceed "the normal way", i.e. is it possible ti use GordianKnot to process my VOBs directly?
2) Does this require any manual interaction on my side or does this tool create IFOs automatically?

To get the .d2v file, you only need to run the .vob through DGIndex. All those instructions are on the "Ripping" tab of Gordian Knot.

My pleasure ;>}

It only requires you to manually click the radiobutton labeled "Create IFOs"...
