Is there an easy way I can do a test encode on just a one minute clip so I can try various DVD-RB parameters and see how I like it? Seeing has how a 3-pass VBR encode takes 300+ min on my system, running 3 test encodes would take me all night. With DVD-Shrink it's easy for me to just choose a 1 minute section and apply the same % compression on it as I would the full disk. Can I do something similar with RB? Thanks guys!

After the "Prepare" phase, go to DVD-RB's working folder and manually load the .AVS file of your choice into CCE. That is if you are using RB Free. If you are using RB Pro, use Rockas Matrix Editor.

ya, I had tried that before but it didn't work, but I am using RB Pro. I haven't tried Rockas Matrix Editor before, how would I use that to do what I want?

J-Wo why don't you just use Shrink to make a test DVD titleset of the scene that you want (re-author mode)?

It has a feature in it designed for testing different filters and matrices that allows you to encode small segments to test them out.

Go to Rebuilder Matrix Editor v.2.0.8 (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=97114) thread and read more about it.
You can encode several short segments with a different Matrix or Filter in just a few minutes.

Just unzip RME and pop it in a subfolder of DVD-RB Pro. There's a few config settings that MatrixEditor.exe takes you through and then you are good to go.
The whole thing is very intuitive.
