View Full Version : DTS 5.1 CD - Just hissing sound when ripped

I can playback a DTS CD using PowerDVD. But when I rip it using Exact Audio Copy in uncompressed WAV format, all I can hear is a hissing sound. I tried the WAV file in PowerDVD and Winamp but still the same hiss.
I am sure it is a DTS disc as it has only *.cda files inside and when played using PowerDVD, it shows "Audio : DTS 5.1 1411 kbps". Is this format rippable with all the multichannel effects?
I tried searching thru the forums (which is what I usually do and get the solution) but this time I cudnt find an answer. So please help me guys.

Hi!
The last few posts (in a thread at another forum) in the following link may help you solve your dilemma:

Thanx for the reply.
I tried what the article said. In foobar, it is playing in double speed. VLC doesnt support DTS now.
Any idea guys?

Yeah, they decided to exclude the dts playback from the version 0.82.
There are some more options( foobar2k 0.83 by changing the wav extention to dts, zoomplayer with dtswavsource+windvd dsfilter set for the wav extention in the mediagraph) to play and differs in the results by the formats(esp. open bit streams).
And recent good news is that ffdshow audio dsfilter supports dtswav playback by checking the 'Check for DTS in Wav' for the DTS codec setting.
[edit]
You will probably have problems in stripping dtswav to dts with besplit with open bit encoded dtswav files.

Thx for this info. :thanks:
It should be noted though that this only works when the last format entry = Uncompressed is enabled as well ;) .

BTW the latest foobar2000 dts-plugin (by Case) version is 0.1.3 .

Sadly this problem is still present (at least for some types of DTS-WAVs).
BeSplit & Hypercube's DTS Tools work on newer types ...
