Do you mean DivX, the MPEG-4 codec, or did you *really* mean VIDX, the adult-film broadband business? For the former, take a look at Doom9's guides. For the latter, their website says they use Windows Media 9.

Ah, you've edited your post. You meant DivX. In order to encode from DVD sources, you need to have a single PGC, IFO-parsed, available to you on your HD. A "file" copy of a DVD is not sufficient. If you have the original DVD --- and you should -- you can use DVD Decrypter in IFO mode to do this. If not, you'll need to use Vstrip or VstripGUI to parse the PGC.
If GK is too complex for you, try AutoGK. Its a one-click application, but, like GK, requires an IFO-parsed VOB set containing a single angle of a single PGC.In addition, AGK can also handle transport streams (.ts files).

thanks, just discovered i need to decript in IFO mode as u say.
i dont care if it is DIVX VIDX(iam confused) or whatever,I am actually lost as it is the first day I am looking at this. when i wll be more knowedgable, I think I will know what I need.
I would like to back up my OWN DVD on music CD of 700 meg and play it in my DVD player, and maybe place 5 movies on 1 DVD , if it is possible.
so when i am on travel,I have only 1 cheap DVD with 5 movies or 5CD that I can toss away, if i am sick of it, than to carry 5 DVD at 25$ each...is that possible?
Ok, I will download this autogk...

DivX = commercial MPEG-4 codec
XviD = open source MPEG-4 codec
VIDX = broadband p0rn producer/distributor
There are some differences. Don't let yourself get confused.

ah I see now...!
the confusion is so easy!
did my first encoding with the simplified Gknot, still working, can take all night. I am surprised to see at the quality of my DVD to DIV X (???correct this time????)
ok, did my first encoding, i can see the logo div x on the right bottom of the movie.
what i dont understand, it is why people sell dvd player with div x when it is not legal to download div x movie from p2p. this is something you can explain me.
i have encoded with 2 languages, but it plays only english.
on my first attempt the subtitle is totally unsinchronized.
ah crap, I burn the movie with Nero, and at the end of the burning, blue screen, reboot, fatal error!!!!
so if i burn a cd disc with my div x movie , is it going to play in my dvd player???
