View Full Version : Problem with Intervideo DVD Copy 3

I'm backing up episodic DVDs, two episodes per disc, just simple DVD merge process. (rip with DVD Decrypter, reauthor each episode to separate folders using DVD Shrink, then merge with DVD Copy) I've backed up many discs in this series with no problems, but the last disc in the series is giving me problems. When DVD Copy is done outputting the merged movie, the Title Menu is screwed up. The folder name (which I change to reflect the title of the episode) isn't showing up. The menu works fine, but certain elements are missing, namely the text that's supposed to be over the link bars, as well as the outlines that usually surround the bar. When I select them the title plays as it should, but there's no visual cue to show that the title has started (usually the outline grows bold).

I've repeated every step in the process (DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, DVD Copy) from scratch more than once and I'm still getting the same problems.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm also wondering if anyone has ever edited the menus outputted by DVD Copy's merge process. I'd like to be able to set the titles to return to the Title Menu when they finish (as it is now I have to turn my settop box off and then on again to get back to the Title Menu).

If this is in the wrong forum and gets moved, I'd appreciate a pm to that effect so I don't lose this thread.

Thanks in advance.

You could manually edit the commands with PgcEdit, see the IFO/VOB Editors sub-forum (http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?f=50), also read the sticky topic by goonix "How to modify the background image of a menu" using that you should be able to repair the button with the mising subpic.

This sucks. I thought it might've been a DVD Shrink error but I cut out the middleman and DVD Copy is still outputting this crap.

Arg, now I've got to learn a new, complex app. I hate that, DVD authoring isn't my life's pursuit after all.

edit: btw thanks for the help.

Bah. I can't reproduce the error with any other movies and it's just not worth it to go through all that (first picking out which of those fifty thousand steps apply to me, then going through the five thousand or so that apply) just for a couple of episode names. If I wanted to do all that I'd just go back to using DVDLab. I got good results with DVDLab, just got tired of all the extra work for strictly cosmetic benefits.

I was watching one of my successfully backed-up (with DVD Copy) series discs last night and gained a bit of insight into the problem, if not the solution.

The problem menu looks exactly like a successful menu just after you've pressed play but before the menu disappears and the movie starts; the buttons go blank and the highlighting disappears. I suppose the menu was being written in the wrong "state" or whatever. Oh well, I authored it with DVD Shrink and moved on.

I've had the same problem crop up with another DVD. This time DVD Copy choked and froze when I clicked the browse button to find the second title. Now it won't burn the title properly.

My guess is this has to do with some location that DVD Copy is storing files that I don't know about. Otherwise this problem doesn't make sense. Does anyone know if this program does this, and where I should look for files to delete? I already know about the file location selected in the options menu, but that's not the problem.

just a guess C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intervideo or something similar.

Yeah, I already checked all the Application Data folders, but unfortunately my hypothesis was wrong; I wrote the titles to a DVD+RW and put them on my other computer; I got all the same errors. I think it's safe to say that the app in question just doesn't like certain files.
