PcgEdit "add blank cell" error

Hi r0lz,

I've been playing with your "tip" using "New dummy PGC" and add blank cell in PgcEdit 0.6.1b12.
While this works fine if I solely use the "Create new blank cell" button in the PGC editor, I get a "TCL-style" error message via the "Create new blank VOB cell" in the "Assign VOB/Cell-ID dialog"
can't read "parent": no such variable
can't read "parent": no such variable
while executing
"tk_messageBox -title "Assign VOB/Cell ID" -icon warning -message "The DVD will be saved now..." -parent $parent"
("after" script)
after that, any following attempts to add a new cell with any of the two methods results in a (Windows-style) messagebox

Error appending new Cell to VOB file:
The number of sectors in the VOB file(s) (516 sectors) don't match the VTSM_C_ADT table (511 sectors)
Number of sectors or *_C_ADT table name depend on the VTS/VMG and no. of cells of course.
I restarted PgcEdit, reloaded the DVD, no difference.
I tried to fix "VTS sectors" with IfoEdit (no idea if this is the way to go) with no success.

Steps to reproduce, and apparently there's no difference if I add a dummy to VMG or a VTS

addendum: I remembered there was something in the PgcEdit thread about this and found this reply of yours (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=710509&highlight=blank+cell#post710509) saying the "error message" is a "safety check".
however, what puzzles me, is that I can add quite some amount of blank cells using the button in the main dialog, and only get the "safety error message" if I use the one from the cell-id requester(?)

Unfortunately, this error occured after the new cell was appended to the VOB, but before the DVD was saved. So, there is now an 'inconsistency' between the VOB and the IFO. You will have to restore the backup of the VOB file. Or, if you don't have the backup, you may try to cut the last cell in the last VOB of the domain (starting at the last nav pack) with an hexadecimal editor. Sorry for that!

If you have this problem again, just ignore the first error, and save the DVD! Everything should be fine.

And yes, the second error message is the safety check described in the thread. But this time, this error is a result of the first error. Sorry again.

And no need to appologize, read the first line of my sig :) In case you don't happen to have a crew for QA, tripple checking every line of code, UnitTesting, you name it, stuff like this can happen in complex apps like PgcEdit. (that's why I stopped writing GUI-apps 'bout 10 yrs ago -- so tedious)

thanx for the hint of how to fix such files, in case this would happen on some "serious" material -- not that I'm hot to mess around with a hex-editor ...
I was just playing with a "chain of tools" to find some kind of best workflow to do this mass menu-creating task I'm going to burdon myself, nameing footage & dirs, encoding, de-/re-muxing, studying CLI cmds, so just "VOBing around" ;) -- this empty DVD was just one of the things I screwed up in this elaborating process ... nothing my life or income depends on :D

one question though: I'm missing the "multiple backup folders" setting? has this been gone for good or just moved someplace else? you rearranged the menu (nice), and I can't find it anymore. hint?

PgcEdit has the ability to manually create an incremental backup (File --> Incremental Backup)

Create Backup (Ctrl + b), Incremental backup, Restore Backup and Delete Backup: Backup/restore and delete the IFO files, in case things turn sour! See also the Options menu. The Incremental backup renames the original PgcEdit_backup folder to one which contains the date and time it was last modified and saves your IFOs in a newly created PgcEdit_backup folder. you're welcome. so is there some b13 or b14 for download?I will release v0.6.1 final soon, but I cannot release new 0.6.1betas anymore because I have changed something important that cannot be released yet, and I don't want to revert to the previous state.
Anyway, v0.6.1 is ready; I need only a green light to release it. Maybe in a couple of days...

must have been blind, but that's what I was looking for: incremental backup; messed up the terms -- and used it before, hence it'd been quiet useful if I'd taken a look in the file menu yesterday :-)

You may also have to reload it to refresh the PGC Selector labels. yupp, that's what I'm doing right now, and it works like a charme, if I go in one row, add 4-5 blanks to a single menu only, a reload doesn't seem to be necessary. I need to reload anyway if I run VIDChanger and VobBlanker on that menu to stuff in the "real" footage.

Final note: As explained in this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=100372), a processing of the domain with VobBlanker should be sufficient to fix the problem. It's easier than the hexadecimal editor method I've suggested before! :o VobBlanker's ability to drop the unreferenced material is so powerful! :)
