Removing scratches

Hi, I make captures with my AVerMedia AVerTV 203 tuner, I get scratches on the video. The strange thing is that when I'm watching TV I hardly get any but when I record I get some nasty ones every now and again. I have tried using both AVerMedia drivers and WDM Wincap but I get the scratches with both. Here's an example of what I mean:

Does anyone know why this problem arises, or if there isn't another solution, how can I remove them??

Hi (hola):

This scratches are typical from very busy system. Try to optimize performance (defrag the hdd or use an alternate one, dont run other processes than the necessary ones, try the btwincaps driver for your capture card). In severe cases you must fight with PCI timing (latency) through the BIOS or utilities.

jggimi: it's the green line. I also have thise problem with my capture card (Flytv Platinium) when capture at full vertical resolution(576). If I capture only 1 field(½ height) the lines doesn't appear. Increasing the latency reduces the amount but they still appears. Will try a new motherboard and see if that helps but it is very annoying.

I used to have the green line problem occasionally with an older VIA chipset and AMD system, but haven't had it once with Intel chipsets.

Hi,

could be your USB VIA controller the responsible of the problem. Try to disable it or, at least, don't connect anything to the USB port. Another problem is your free space on the HD (only 6%). Try to free space or buy another HD only for the captured footage (best). Other trick is to compress the capture with the MJPEG picvideo codec in high quality (18-19).
