Flashing trough FireWire

Hi!

I would like to ask, is it possible (and safe), to flash optical drives through FireWire? I've got an LG DVD Writer inside an external 5,25 case, connected with firewire to my laptop.

It depends on whether you are flashing through DOS or windows. If through windows you probably can, if through DOS it depends on your bios supporting firewire in DOS. As to whether it is safe, you always take a chance when you flash a drive.

Flashing through Windows, of course.
So... I've tried it, no success, the flasher froze instantly. I was scared for a moment, but the drive seems to be working correctly...
