DVD Remote Code

My roommate has an old cheapo dvd player Shinsonic DVD-100A and he lost the remote somewhere and can't do certain functions without it, such as parental controls and obviously stopping and rewinding etc. Is there a remote code that can be used for this player that can be entered either into the cable remote or a Philips Universal remote that he uses for the tv??

The documentation for the Universal remote will either list a specific code for that player, or will provide directions as to how to use the remote to "read" the player and set the code (or provide another method, such as multiple keypresses)...

The prices of universal remote controls seems to be at an all time low at the moment.... I picked up a Tevion 8 function remote, with pre-installed codes and learning facility for just £4.99 in the UK....
