View Full Version : Error 0006: framecount differences

I am using the latest pro release, v1.00 RC6 with CCE SP 2.70.2.1 and get the dreaded "Error 0006 - DVD-RB has found framecount differences..." message when doing a full back-up(pre-processed and not), movie only, and movie and menus only modes.

I'm pretty sure it's the first or second cell ID that is/are the problem, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to say for sure. What happens during rebuild (movie and menus mode on this example), is:

[16:04:17] Phase III, REBUILD started.
- Copying IFO, BUP, and unaltered files...
- Processing VTS_01
- Reading/processing TMAP table...
- Rebuilding seg 0 VOBID 1 CELLID 1

Then the error message is given. Would this indicate a problem with CELLID 1 or CELLID 2? What information is needed to figure this out? I've been trying to back-up this movie, Catch-22, since June without any success. All the forum threads related to this indicate something about a cellID being really small.

Forgive me for being presumptuous, but I don't believe that error 0006 is specifically related to what back-up mode is selected. I think it depends on the movie, as I've received the error using three different back-up modes.

The only times I have experienced this error was because a bad rip (the source DVD has some scratch). My suggestions:
- Try re-ripping the DVD - repeat the process
- If the problem persists: a) Do a full backup with Shrink in 100% compression. Do not use Not Compression as you are trying Shrink to do a new authoring. b) If it fails also, try with Vobblanker, processing all the VTS to try the same re-authoring.
- If the above process failed (in one of my cases neither Shrink nor Vobblanker could finish for an error in the source, a confirmation the problem was there), I used Vobblanker tu cut the problematic part (around 2 minutes of the video) and made a backup of the remaining

not sure, but i think I got this error months ago. in the rebuilt process.
this was with resident evil R2, sony DVD.

this is the only disc I was unable to copy with DVD rebuild free version.
at the end I did a back up with DVD shrink.

what s the movie ???

Catch-22. I'll try re-ripping. I was using DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD. Should I be using something else?

Is it NTSC, R1? If so I can test it.

I recieved this error on the Sum of all Fears NTSC R1 which was Prepared and Encoded using RB 1.0rc5 CCE 2.7.something. When I attempted to rebuild using 1.0rc5, I recieved the error. I then installed rc6 and rebuilt the DVD with no errors, but the DVD is oversized. I am going to attempt the whole shooting match again with rc6, but I thought it would be something to add to this discussion.

Actually, it's a PAL DVD. How I ended up with a PAL DVD(bought it used) I haven't the foggiest. I'll get back to you later on tonight or tommorrow after I rerip and retry. I'm currently at work and don't have access to the DVD or programs I need.

- Fixed a bug in which a "Error 0006 -- DVD-RB has
found framecount..." error could occur on very small
segments during REBUILD when selecting the "Movie
and Menus Only" mode.

Re-ripped, prepared, encoded, and got the same message "error 0006: framecount differences..." shortly after beginning the rebuild. So, what can I do if anything? I rather not resort to using DVD Shrink, as I've never used it before.

Could you send your REBUILDER.INI, REBUILDER.INF, and REBUILDER.ECL file to dvd-rb@dvd-rb.com?

Is it failing on a VTS you blanked? In the past (before RC6 or whatever we're on now), I would have this error on a VTS that was blanked. To remedy it, I simply remove the offending VTS references in the REBUILDER.INF file and let it copy over the VTS untouched; I then blank it afterwards to meet my size requirement. It's not a fix, but it's a workaround I've used multiple times in the past.

I think that "blanking" error should have been fixed in RC6.0. I'm pretty sure it is related to the fix I mentioned above.

@folgesong
Use of DVDShrink is rather simple, specially for Full Backups.
I suggested its use because it worked for me: after processing the original reipping through Shrink at 100%, with deep Analysis (No quality loss/imperceptible quality loss), the output could be processed by RB without problem. I think its a method also to check problems in the rip (in another case the rip was so bad that Shrink could not finish the Deep analysis)

Of course the problem could be in RB (even jdobbs seems to think so), but as the suggested method worked once for me, I'm insisting with it. And, if Shrink chokes during the Deep analysis (as it also happend to me in the other case), I think that even jdobbs would accept that there is nothing he can do with such bad quality source, although you can never dismiss jdobbs "miracles" :)

Whatever the problem is, it must be Region specific. I just ran the R1 disc with no troubles at all(RC6.0 and HC). FWIW-the offending segment is only 31 frames long.

jdobbs, disregard my previous post. I redid the whole thing using rc6 and it worked wonderfully. My stupid mistake for trying to use two versions to complete the process. Thanks for this quality software.
