I have had a lot of disc problems lately.I bought 50 DV 3209} Datawrite Ritek 'Optima Blue' (8x) DVD-R
and 50 DV 3201} Ridisc Xtreme (Ritek G05 dye) (8x) about 10 of each would not write at all,the rest would only write at 4x.see write

speed at bottom of page.So Flash the firmware i was a suggestion from the supplier.I downloaded from the pioneer website the firmware

for my dvr 107dafter the install iam not sure if i have done it right as no proper idiot proof instructions were available.So I need help with

how to flash the firmware.
My next lot of discs were 50 {DV 3240} Ridisc Inkjet Printable (8x) DVD-R & 50 {DV 3243}
Using dvd decrypter and trying a iso file.
DV 3209 power callibration area (retry) error invalid adress for write. just managed to write a load mp3s then try to read back in writer

and does not recognise the disc is in drive dropit in the dvdrom and reads ok.
The DV 3240 interpretion check problems and then try again no more track reservations.
Uncorectable error.invalid adress for write.incompatible media.mostly 10 out of 50.
I have now bought 25 DV 3272} Rivision Full-Face Printable (16x) DVD-R so far burned 7 at 4x no problems.
{DV 3166} Ritek G05 "Full-Face Printable" A Grade (8x) DVD-R Disc 1st 1 interpretation no more track reservations allowed

(decrypter iso) next 3 discs incompatible medium
I have a lg 16x dual layer Model : GSA4163B i installed it in pc as master recordnnow max did not recognise i had a writer installed. My

computer showed it ok and it would read everything but i could not burn anything so frustrated i ended up taking that back out.
I have nero preinstalled but that ghas a compatabilty issue with my version of window I downloaded the patcth ran it made no difference.

DL and install 1.21 from here (http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1754). It's an EXE file.

Read the readme carefully. But it's easy to flash - take disk out of drive. Run update. Reboot.

With your LG4163B, the latest firmware version is A105.

Hi!

Just wanted to make sure that you're aware that installing a firmware update from a site other than an official manufacturer's site may void your warranty - and leave you with no recourse to anyone, should it not work properly and, in a worst case, render your burner inoperable. For the specific link provided to you by "bultach", the top of the page clearly indicates that "You do this at your own risk!"

@hammer

While setarip may (or may not) be correct in his legal interpretations, there must be tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of people who use RPC1 to update their firmware - in fact, DVD Decrypter calls it when you check for firmware updates. More to the point, doom9 calls this site the "mother of all firmware sites" - see http://www.doom9.org/rpc1.htm.

I have not heard of anyone having problems with it. Use it with confidence.

hmm, I have two LG GSA-4163B's, one using firmware version A102, the other using A104 -- they both work great on all media I've tried (ritekG05, ProdiscF01).

I'd investigate the windows end; try deleting and reinstalling the drivers

Mine came with A104 and worked flawlessly (as did my old 4081B). They are fine burners. I did upgrade the firmware though :)
