View Full Version : deleting part of a title

This must be addressed here, but I'm not finding specifically what I'm looking for.

I'm using PGCedit, VOBblanker and such to trim out parts of a DVD that I don't want. But sometimes, there are parts of a given title that I want to trim, but leave the rest. An obvious example would be intro studio logo stuff that's part of the main movie, but not in a separate titleset.

I know that I can trim the beginning and end of a title with DVD Shrink or Nero Recode, but that means using those tools to reauthor the DVD, which I am not looking to do in cases where I don't want to dump the menus.

Can I just reauthor the title in question with those programs, then use the output to overwrite the same titleset in the originally ripped files?

Is there another way to do this from within PCGEdit, VobBlanker or other tools that can be used with those?

PGcEdit cannot, unless the header/trailer were a complete cell
VobBlanker can cut the beginning/middle/ending (only one at a time) of a title. Read in the help file the topics:

Dialog Windows--> "Preview and cut"
PGC procedures--> "Cutting a Program chain"

Check out this guide (http://www.videohelp.com/~jsoto/guides/VobBlanker/prevcut/) on how to cut with VobBlanker. It may be what you're looking for.

EDIT: Whoops, beat me on that one, jsoto ;)

all of this can also of course be done in DVD Remake

Yes, but the usual two major downsides of DVD Remake apply here, too, AFAIK:

Unlike VobBlanker and PgcEdit, DVD Remake is not freeware. And it takes more time and harddisk space to process the DVD in DVD Remake, as it doesn't process "on the fly", in the input folder.

There is "Export modified files only" option in DvdReMake for those who needs it.

well, one of your 2 points is correct, and the other only half so.

Its not free, but its incredibly easy to use. Im not a computer expert but Im not a newb either and last time I tried PgcEdit is was anything but intuitive.

As for processing on the fly you can simply use the export modified files only if your concern is disk space, but at less then $90 for a 250GB HD I dont often find myself very concerned about harddrive space
