Can't get audio in VirtualVCR/VirtualDub(Mod)

I am using AverMedia PCI 550 Tv tuner card and have a C-Media built-in audio hardware. When I use UltraTV program that came with the card, I can record both audio and video. No matter what I try with Virtual softwares, no sound. I've looked around in the forums and messed with mixer settings to no avail. I also saw a suggestion to route audio from the TV tuner to the sound card mechanically. The person who was requesting help tried it and it did not work for him.

Is there a reason why some people get sound and others just don't?

Please help or point me to existing resources.

If the card has a line-out jack, you should be able to connect to line-in on your soundcard. Then you just have to select line-in as the recording source in Windows mixer.

It appears that UltraTV software has to be running for the card to produce any audio output at all. Funny, I can flip channels as well as adjust volume levels for all audio devices from both Virtuals, but I don't know how to its enable audio output without running UltraTV. There's no need to enable video feed but, apparently, UltraTV does something to route audio to the Wave device.

I just thought of a solution: I suppose I can run the cable via the digital decoder and get the sound directly from the cable box or use a VCR as a tuner and, again, feed the audio from the VCR to Line-In.

It seems to me, though, that there should be a way to enable audio output. Proprietary software can do it, so why can't I do it manually? The signal is comming into the card, after all.

If you are not able to get the audio than it does not completely support third party application. This is a hardware encoding card as it's only able to support with the bundle TV software.
