View Full Version : Can an aborted program alter settings?

Hi all.

I apologise for my last Foo-pa. I will be more careful with my choice of words and try not to generalise in future.

I did a dummie run with one of my movies using DVD Decrypt and the DVD Shrink from the HD.

When every thing appeared to be doing it's thing correctly, I aborted the process in DVD Shrink and then removed the created files off my HD.

Later I wanted to watch a movie on my PC and found that the Disk would either not 'auto start' and or, was not recognised by either of my 2 drives (Rom drive and DVD Burner drive).

I checked the auto start settings but could not find anything that had changed.

I eventually got both drives to auto start again more by accident that design I think and all is working as it should..........for the moment at least.

My question, can the auto start/disk recognition settings/function be altered by either of the said programs, especially if and when the procress is aborted mid stream?

Regards :(

Although, as I'm sure you've seen (as we all have, at one time or another), virtually anything is possible when it comes to computer foulups, I don't think shutting down DVD Shrink in mid-operation should have had that effect on your system.

However, I would ask, in what manner did you abort the program?

Hi there.

I just clicked the cancel button. That is always my preferred mode to close things down, secondly the "X" if there is no Cancel button, or if the cancel button does not for some reason appear to work.

I would not have thought that it would cause a problems, but as you say, "anything........".
