Looking for a one-click DV to DVD solution

A friend of mine is studying at a cinematography university and does some of his work in DV. He'd like to know of if there's a software that can convert from DV to DVD in a similar way that Nero does (i.é: you drag and drop the AVI into the program, click a button and wait) with a reasonable amount of quality. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

You need a program that will encode the DV to MPEG-2, author, and then burn to DVD.

An almost 1-click program would be Ulead MovieFactory 4.

If he has a Mac, iMovie and iDVD is a good simple solution.

In the US you can get a DVD settop recorder that takes in DV for as low as $100. Stores like Walmart have very nice return policies ... so there is very little risk (try it for 30 days). This is certainly the easy way.

Ulead also has a product called VideoStudio, which includes editing capability, in the event you'd like to edit, add titles, fades, music, etc.

Ulead's products are "consumer grade" software, designed for ease-of-use, and are available for download with 30-day trials.

trevlac: that's a very good suggestion, but unfortunately electronics are extremely expensive here in Uruguay.

What codec does Ulead VideoStudio 9 use? Video Dude indicated the MovieFactory 4 uses the Mainconcept codec which I have heard gives very sharp, indeed almost to sharp, detail.

I don't know; my assumption is that it would be the same encoding engine and codec, since both products come from the same vendor.

Both are offered as trials; you could try both products and see for yourself which is preferred for *your* needs.

Before 2002, Ulead used the Ligos MPEG encoder.

He'll have to try it (obviously), but VSO DivxToDVD (free version) is very fast and will make it a painless process. The end resulting files are good looking.
BTW, it will process more than Divx files.
